compliementary sweet bread

We started with the
QUALICUM BEACH SCALLOPS – miso, mustard, celery, peanut and Chinese sausage.

Super delicious! Loved the sauce and ingredients that went along with it. Nice presentation as well!

PUMPKIN RAVIOLO – consomme, sage pesto, romano cheese, cured duck

This dish was a bit confusing to be. My first time having raviolos, basically a ravioLI that has nothing in it and a lot thinner!

Main

ROAST TAMSHIRE PORK – bacon, fennel, apple , beet, and black walnut

Never really ordered pork at these restaurants but this was surprisingly very good! Very tender. The apple and black walnuts complemented it quite nicely.

BRAISED ONTARIO RED DEER – savoy cabbage, honey turnip and winter truffle.

This was the one thing that caught my eye from the menu! I had to get it! It tasted similar to a beef steak with a slight “sheep” smell. It was great overall though, worth the try!

Desserts

ONTARIO APPLE COBBLER – brown butter custard, walnut, sage streusel, goat’s cheese ice cream

LEMON MERINGUE – graham cracker, lemon cream and mint

Flat Iron – 13 year old appleton run, bitters and organic honey poured over crushed ice, dried honeycomb garnish

Liked!

Overall, good but not great great. Again, it was winterlicious. Great presentations, friendly service and all but with the price… I thought it’s a bit pricey. It’s worth a try but I’ll want to visit other restaurants before I come back again :).
