Heard many good reviews on Wildfire from the past licious so decided it to be on my winterlicious list this year despite the $45 prix fix. The menu had a wide selection of at least 4-5 choices for each course.
Others ordered the Shrimp Martini (Succulent tiger shrimp, served with our zesty citrus-vodka infused cocktail sauce) and Grilled Calamari (Warm tomato salsa, capers, black olives and red onions), which were very basic.
For main, I ordered the Wildfire Baby Back Ribs basted with delectable homemade barbecue sauce and served with fresh cut fries and seasonal vegetables, just cause I’ve been eating steaks too much these days.
The others ordered the Sterling Silver New York Striploin with garlic mashed Yukon gold potatoes and grilled seasonal vegetables. The ribs were rich in flavour, however, it didn’t blow me away and it goes the same with the steak that I’ve tried from others.
Lastly, for desserts, I had the New York Cheesecake,a luscious, creamy delight, topped with berry coulis and fresh berries. Out of the 3 courses, the cheesecake was the best. The portion and flavour was just right!
Overall, Wildfire was great but not as great as I thought it would be from what I’ve read/heard. Nonetheless, the service, environment (fireplace and dimmed lights) and the food in general were not bad. Knowing that this place was a steakhouse, i thought their steaks and rib eye would be better (I think KEG can give a better or equal quality…maybe i’m just too picky though). It was worth a try though and this is what winterlicious is for, just trying out various restaurants around the city. 🙂
