Upon my trip back from Asia, I was really craving for pasta! MJ then brought me to Unionville at Main St. for some italian food. Again, Unionville Main St is our go-to place if we want to avoid driving to downtown.
La Grotta offered a 3-course prix fix menu for $29.95. The restaurant was sort of underground with a walk-out patio. Unfortunately, the day that we arrived was raining so we didn’t get to enjoy it.
Aside from the 3-course menu, we also ordered the Calamari to share. It was a choice to grill or fried, we picked fried. 🙂
Tender squid, served with homemade seafood dip ($12.95)
Delicious! Would come back for this!
For appetizers with the menu, I got the Soup of the day – pea & cream soup.
MJ got the Portobello mushroom – roasted & served w/goat cheese & ricotta cheese
For mains, Veal Pizzaiola – Panfried w/mushrooms, onions & peppers in tomato sauce
Spaghetti Bolognese – w/mushrooms & topped in meat sauce
Both mains were just rather normal.
Overall, everything was just alright. The only thing that stood out was their calamari! For the price of their prix-fix menu, it’s decent. I would rather much enjoy Alice Fazoolis’ pasta instead though. However, La Grotta had great service! It’s a nice date-night location if you’re looking for somewhere quiet or if you want to sit out in the patio during summer.
