Last Saturday, I went to a friend’s wedding ceremony and when the ceremony ended, I was extremely hungry! MJ and I had no intentions of going to O&B Café Grill (@Oliver_Bonacini) at Bayview Village but knowing that their lunch is only $15, we’ll give it a shot for walk-in. Even at 2:30PM, they were packed with just one remaining 2-people table. Scored!
We were greeted with a friendly waiter. Pretty loud and casual vibe. The 3-course prix fix menu for $15 was definitely a better deal than other items on the menu as they were at least $13 per entrée.
WATERMELON & TOMATO GAZPACHO – basil, olive oil & brioche
– Very refreshing! The watermelon added some texture for sure.
SUMMER SQUASH SALAD – spinach, ginger pickles & maple ponzu dressing
BROILED ATLANTIC HADDOCK – caramelized lemon, Ontario asparagus & marinated new potatoes
– We both got the haddock. It’s typically a “fish n’ chip” fish so it lacked a bit of flavour. The dish was rather bland. It would have been better if there was more lemon and sauce to it. I actually really liked the grilled lemon on top of the fish… it wasn’t too soury or bitter at all.
PINEAPPLE CARROT CAKE – lemon cream cheese icing
CHEESECAKE – honey ricotta
Both desserts were alright. Nothing too amazing about it. The cheesecake could have been a bit more densed.
Overall, $15 was a good deal. Nothing in particular to complain about the food. I’ll probably be back for a casual occasion… for entrée + drinks? But not a full out 3-course meal now that I’ve only paid just $15 for it. lol 🙂
