This is a much delayed post from early this year. Arrived at La Carnita (@la_carnita) on a Tuesday evening at around 6PM, there wasn’t much of a line up. Yay! They mainly serve tacos with local ingredients and spices.
Tortilla Chips to share w/ ancho chili powder & 3 dips
– Guacamole Sikil, Pak Mezcal, Chipotle Liver Paté.
The tortilla chips were a tad spicy. There was so much of the chips and dip that we couldn’t even finish for 3 people. Great pair with beer!
Mexican Street Corn (2pc) – Mexican crema, queso anejo, arbol & ancho chili powder
Some ppl loved it but not super amazing for me…just interesting sauce and sprices.
Some of the Tacos that we ordered…
In Cod We Trust – Voltron sauce, lime crema, pickled red cabbage, green apple & cilantro
Crispy Avocado & Frijoles – Beans, crispy avocado, chipotle sauce, queso fresco & cilantro – Didn’t really like it that much. Maybe cause I don’t like the black beans.
Tostada de Lengua – Westcoast verde, orange sauce, grilled pineapple radish & beet sprouts. I liked it. Quite refreshing with a hint of spice.
Special of the Day – Pork Confit – it was amazing! Best one with lots of meat and hot sauce.
My favourite would have to be the the Tostada de Lengua and the special of the day.
Paletas – watermelon, strawberry, key lime pie
Basically, popsicles…Very fruity. Will come back for this. Key lime pie was my favourite with the cookie crust.
Overall, a great place to hang out with your friends with an assortment of beer and tacos. But I personally didn’t love it and didn’t meet up to my expectations of the big hype. Worth a try though.
